FAQ

Isn't storytelling coaching the job of a CMO (or other marketing leader)?

In short, yes - but scaling it is the problem. Our founder wrote a great article on Forbes about this exact topic, titled The Challenge of Storytelling for Modern CMOs.

When can you start?

We try to get you set up within one business day after signing up. After that, you can submit your first request and we'll turn it around within 1-2 business days (depending on the specifics of the plan you choose).

How long do coaching and feedback requests take to complete?

Most coaching requests are completed within 1 business day, however larger assets will take longer, or can be broken up in to multiple smaller assets and requests.

Are revisions included?

Yes, you can submit the same piece of content to us for as many rounds of coaching as you want, but each submission counts as an additional request against your plan allocation (e.g. 1 request per week, 3 requests per week, etc).

Why is this called PMMTeam?

PMM is short for "Product Marketing Manager". Product Marketing teams are where many tech companies look for the story behind their products to take shape, and where much of the messaging and positioning is created.

Why wouldn't I just hire an editor or writer (or agency)?

Writing and editing is important, but has become a commodity these days. There are tons of great writers, agencies, and even ChatGPT that can crank out high volumes of content -- but it won't make you a great writer or storyteller. You need a coach that can provide specific, actionable feedback and coaching to help you improve, and that's what PMMTeam provides.

What makes you so good at this?

Put simply, experience. We've led large Product Marketing teams and created messaging and positioning for early stage startups, late stage venture-backed unicorns, Fortune 100 tech giants, top cloud providers, and everything in between.

Can I invite my team?

The startup plan is limited to one user, but with the growth plan you can invite your team members and they'll be able to make coaching requests within the limits of your plan (3 total requests per week across all of your users). We offer larger custom plans with additional requests for bigger teams or enterprises. Please contact us.

Do big companies need multiple subscriptions?

Bigger companies may need more than 3 requests per week, and we're happy to put together a quote to provide that coaching capacity that best meets your needs. Please contact us.

How often do we meet with you?

Unlike a traditional marketing agency that overloads you with meetings and underwhelms you with value, we've flipped the script.

We are happy to do a free trial coaching session where you can experience our value live and ask questions that aren't answered here in the FAQ. But once you sign up and your subscription is activated, everything is done asynchronously through your project dashboard and screen recordings. Yes, everything. Is there a minimum commitment?

PMMTeam coaching is provided through a monthly subscription. You can cancel, pause, or resume your membership at any time, for any reason. We also offer a free trial coaching session so you can get a feel for exactly what we provide before you sign up, and a 7-day satisfaction guarantee with a full refund if you aren't thrilled with our services after signing up.

Are there refunds if I'm not happy?

Yes. We encourage you to take a free trial before signing up. After that, we offer a full satisfaction guarantee with a 7-day no questions asked refund policy. Remember that in addition to the trial and 7-day guarantee, you can also cancel, pause, or resume your coaching subscription at any time, for any reason.

How do I submit a coaching request?

Create a request in your PMMTeam project board with the existing piece of content that you want us to work on. Most of the time we can accommodate what works best for you. Google docs, powerpoint, URL, whatever is the best way to communicate the task. Just add the content to your project board a long with any other relevant information. We'll be in touch if there any questions, otherwise we will review the piece of content and turn around our feedback and coaching within 1-2 business days (depending on the plan you're on).

How do you define an "asset" for my requests?

An asset generally means something like 10 slides or around 750 words. Got a biggie on your hands, like a 50-slide deck, a 30-page document, or maybe even all the copy on your website? No worries! Just point us to the ~10 slides or ~750 words you'd like us to concentrate on for that coaching request, or you can split it up in to multiple task-sized requests.

Will you write my marketing content for me?

Write? No. Coach you on how to improve the content and become a stronger marketer? Yes!

It's important to remember that the goal of any coaching request isn't to find "perfect" messaging, it's about helping you improve as a storyteller and marketer to continuously raise the bar so your messaging and positioning gets better over time.

Can you help me with design-related requests?

No. We're all about the words here. While we might drop a hint or two about aesthetics or formatting to boost the impact of your content, design isn't our thing.

While we don't do design, the founder of DesignJoy.co has built a great following and helped popularize the concept of "productized services" like that inspired us to create PMMTeam.

What happens after I subscribe?
